The hypermarket Leipzig is a member of the development association “Community for the interest development of German hypermarkets e.V.” (GFI of German hypermarkets).

The hypermarket, which was opened at its new location in 1995, is the most important hypermarket in Central Germany. It specializes in fresh products and the solution of logistic challenges of distributing goods of all kinds. It continues the tradition of the Central German hypermarket hall which was opened on the 6^th of February 1930. In those days it had been run as a municipal facility. In 1945 until the German reunion (1989) it was publicly owned. Nowadays, the hypermarket Leipzig is privately held. Being connected to the cargo transport center, the most prosperous commercial area in the region, the hypermarket Leipzig with its 70.000 m² is situated at the intersection of traditional trade roads (Berlin-Muenchen/ Halle-Dresden). It is very close to the airport, freight center / DHL, Porsche and the New Exhibition at the logistical junction in the conurbation of Leipzig. An ideal infrastructure guarantees that any address can be reached within minutes in this city of 500.000 citizens. A regional distribution area of 3,000,000 consumers makes it possible for every dealer to grow with the hypermarket Leipzig.
